Job Description

Deloitte's Engagement Financial Advisor team in San Diego is seeking a Project Financial Analyst to oversee the financials of client engagements. You will partner with project teams to manage budgets, monitor performance, and forecast revenue and expenses across the project lifecycle while supporting day-to-day financial operations. The role is onsite in San Diego, CA, with a salary range of USD 66,200 - 121,800 per year and requires either a Bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant experience, or a Business degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline with 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams to oversee budgets, track financials, forecast revenue and expenses, and keep projects financially on track
  • Produce financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to inform engagement leadership decisions
  • Monitor project spending and assist with billing and collections activities
  • Provide clear financial updates, insights, and recommendations to internal stakeholders
  • Support day‑to‑day project operations and financial management across the project lifecycle
  • Identify financial risks, process issues, and opportunities for improvement
  • Apply established project management and financial processes to maintain engagement quality and compliance
  • Contribute to team initiatives, knowledge sharing, and process improvements
  • Maintain regular contact with your manager, coach (career advisor), and onboarding advisor to support professional development

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant experience, or a Business degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline with 2 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Solid understanding of fundamental accounting and finance principles
  • Ability to travel 0-10% on average, based on client and engagement needs
  • Ability to work in your local office at a minimum of one day per week
  • Must be located within a commutable distance to one of the eligible locations for this role
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Comfort working with large datasets, financial reporting tools, and detailed analysis
  • Interest in consulting operations, project financial management, or business operations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholder groups
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to identify opportunities for improvement

The Team
