Job Description

Join the State of Ohio - Public Safety in Columbus, OH (onsite) and support fiscal planning for public safety program areas. This Senior Financial Analyst role offers multiple pay increases in your first years of service, onsite amenities, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical coverage, paid time off, and education and development opportunities. Responsibilities

  • Independently research and analyze complex information under the direction of the Financial Analyst Supervisor to resolve fiscal errors, modify data, and determine appropriate action for program areas.
  • Assist with payroll projections and administrative budget planning and allocation.
  • Prepare budgetary evaluations and discuss budget concerns or issues with appropriate managerial staff.
  • Manage account appropriations and provide account coding information for assigned divisions and sections within the Ohio Department of Public Safety, including areas such as the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), Emergency Management Services (EMS), and Office of Administration (ADM).

Requirements

  • Completion of an undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field; or completion of the equivalent options below.
  • Accounting and/or finance experience or training options that include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software:
    • 42 months of experience or 42 months of training; or
    • Option combining undergraduate core program completion with 18 months of experience or 18 months of training; or
    • Option combining graduate core program completion with 6 months of experience or 6 months of training; or
    • 12 months of experience as Financial Analyst, 66562; or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment referenced above.
  • Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 months of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced above.
