Job Description

Brighthouse Financial is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to lead expense allocations, statutory expense reporting, and peer analysis from our Charlotte, NC hub with a hybrid work setup. The role blends routine monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting with ad hoc projects that support cross-entity and cross-product cost management, roughly a quarter of the workload.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain financial models that pull inputs from multiple systems to calculate expense prorates across legal entities and products.
  • Perform monthly prorate maintenance, review change requests, load prorates in SAP, and validate allocated results.
  • Assess monthly allocation outcomes for unallocated balances and investigate identified anomalies.
  • Prepare quarterly statutory expense ratios for actuals and forecasts and conduct peer analysis using statutory financials to benchmark performance against the industry.
  • Produce financial reports from diverse sources, consolidate databases, create spreadsheets, and interpret trends to drive insights.
  • Document processes, procedures, and metrics while identifying and implementing internal controls in existing or new workflows.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment aligned with SOX requirements around expense allocations.
  • Enhance or redesign processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed.

Requirements

  • Solid business analytics capabilities with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivots, index matches, and VLOOKUPs as needed.
  • Experience with SAP, BPC, PaPM, and Analysis for Office is advantageous but not required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently with a proactive approach.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience.
  • BA/BS degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting.

  • Compensation – Base salary $80,000 to $90,000 per year plus competitive performance-based incentives.
