Job Description
This senior financial analyst role is based in Houston, TX onsite and supports Texas Children's Hospital's finance team in a fast paced environment, maintaining a framework to continuously measure financial and statistical performance against targets set by all levels of authority, from departmental managers to the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities
- Produce and review comprehensive financial and statistical reports, consistently monitoring trends, variances, and meaningful deviations to support informed, data-driven decision making at multiple management levels.
- Analyze variances by comparing current actual results to budgeted targets and prior year actual results, identifying root causes and potential implications for operational planning.
- Perform ad hoc financial analyses on request, delivering timely insights and concise conclusions for stakeholders.
- Prepare and evaluate monthly financial and statistical reports, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational targets and regulatory requirements.
- Design, develop, and implement new reports and analyses to expand visibility into key performance indicators and facilitate proactive management.
- Maintain the infrastructure of the PeopleSoft accounting system, updating it as needed when new accounts and departments are added or reorganized.
- Assist in the development and refinement of financial models to support forecasting, scenario planning, and strategic assessment.
- Coordinate, develop, and maintain budget systems, including governance, processes, and controls to improve planning accuracy.
- Execute special projects as assigned by the supervisor, delivering results on time and documenting methodologies for future reference.
- Actively participate on cross-functional teams and committees as requested by management to share insights and promote aligned financial decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related business field is required.
- A master's degree in finance, accounting, or business may substitute for two years of the experience requirement.
- Minimum of five years of financial or accounting experience is required.
