Strategic Finance & FP&A Manager

The Strategic Finance & FP&A Manager will support business performance by converting financial information into practical insights for organization-wide decision-making. This onsite role partners closely with the CFO and operational leaders to shape pricing, budgeting and forecasting, strategic investment analysis, and executive financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with sales and operational leadership to evaluate performance across facilities, delivery networks, customer programs, and strategic investments.
• Assess results versus budget and forecast, pinpointing variance drivers and identifying actionable opportunities.
• Convert financial data into clear insights that strengthen accountability and informed decisions.
• Assist with pricing analysis, contract evaluations, and customer profitability analysis.
• Develop business cases and investment analyses, including NPV, IRR, ROI, and payback period, to support major decisions involving new market opportunities, vertical expansions, technology investments, capital allocation, acquisitions, and operational initiatives.
• Create scenario analyses to support strategic decisions and operational planning.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting cycles.
• Build and maintain financial models for revenue, operating expenses, and capital planning.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to understand business drivers and ensure financial plans reflect real operational factors.
• Prepare monthly financial performance packages for the board and executive leadership.
• Develop and maintain reporting metrics to improve visibility into business performance.
• Support the accounting team’s monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to help ensure accurate and timely reporting, internal control strength, and GAAP compliance.
• Strengthen financial reporting infrastructure and planning processes, with an emphasis on automation, standardization, and AI-based solutions.
• Improve data integration between operational systems and financial reporting tools.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 7+ years of experience in accounting, financial planning and analysis, or related work.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
• Experience using ERP or accounting systems and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI or similar).
• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights for business leaders.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• CPA and public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• MBA or other advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
• Experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain industries.

Compensation & Benefits

Total compensation: $115,000 – $130,000 annually, consisting of a base salary and a variable bonus plan.

Pay: $130,000 – $160,000 per year.

Work Location, Schedule, and Travel

• Location: Middle River, MD (onsite), in person.
• Ability to commute: Middle River, MD 21220 (required).
• Travel: Little to no travel expected.

Work Environment

• Office environment with routine use of computers, scanners, copiers, and telephones.
• Works near a warehouse environment; only trained personnel may access the warehouse area while following safety procedures.

Physical Demands

• Regular requirements include talking or hearing, sitting, standing, and using hands to finger, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms for 8+ hours per day.
• Repetitive motion.
• Substantial movements of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, or moving up to 25 pounds.
• Vision abilities required include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus for data and figure preparation and analysis, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading and typing.
