Job Description
Based in New York with a hybrid work setup, the Business Development Advisor – New Business (Finance) plays a pivotal role within Latham & Watkins' BD team. The role focuses on crafting and delivering high impact proposals, win themes, client messaging, credentials, and RFP responses, coordinating with internal resources, and preparing client presentations from the New York office. This position supports strategic deal work across finance related matters and helps ensure timely, polished submissions for prospects and clients.

- Salary: USD 120,000 - 155,000 per year

Responsibilities
- Facilitate information gathering sessions with BD teams and partners to clarify requirements, client needs, and approach
- Lead kickoff meetings to define messaging, milestones, and the core project team
- Collaborate with BD teams, lawyers, and firm resources to assemble credentials statements, pitch documents, and RFP responses
- Review pitch request documents to identify compliance requirements, instructions, and evaluation criteria, managing related response tasks
- Coordinate with finance, pricing, compliance, Inclusion, Opportunity & Community Committee (IOC), and the Office of General Counsel to align information sharing
- Protect and maintain highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and proprietary information
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
- Experience: At least 6 years leading strategic initiatives focused on credentials, proposals, tenders, or other written sales tools, plus developing BD strategies and winning proposals
- Additional experience: At least 8 years in a legal, financial services, or professional services environment, or related sector when applicable
- Finance knowledge: Familiarity with structured finance, project finance, leveraged finance, and capital markets transactions; ability to explain deal structures and key terms, track market trends, and cite credential data from Refinitiv, Bloomberg, or Dealogic
- Audience tailoring: Ability to tailor pitch content for financial institution clients, sponsors, borrowers, and development-stage companies
- Process knowledge: Understanding of pitch processes and proficiency with pitch management tools
- Autonomy and deadlines: Capable of working independently and meeting deadlines
- Pressure tolerance: Strong analytical thinking and the ability to operate in a high-pressure environment
