Job Description

Siouxland Community Health Center in Sioux City, IA is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead the organization’s finance function and help drive financial performance. In this onsite role, you will oversee core financial planning and oversight activities, ensure audit readiness and compliance, and partner closely with executive and governance stakeholders, as well as external auditors and payor sources.

Role Overview

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for setting and achieving financial goals while managing key finance leadership roles. The position covers planning, budgeting, forecasting, audits, reporting, compliance, and stakeholder relationships tied to payor activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead finance staff in setting and achieving organizational financial goals, including managing the Controller, Financial Manager, and Revenue Cycle Manager.
  • Lead the financial activities of the organization.
  • Own planning, budgeting, strategizing, maintaining, and forecasting for all financial activities.
  • Ensure responsibility for all audits, financial reporting requirements, and compliance requirements.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with the CEO, Finance Committee, Board of Directors, external auditors, and payor sources.
  • Note: these functions are not all inclusive.

Requirements

  • Financial leadership experience in a health care setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • CPA or CMA highly preferred.
  • Financial expertise with cost accounting and performance management systems.
  • Experience in revenue cycle improvement.
  • Experience in financial planning, budgeting, strategy, forecasting, including state, federal, and third-party payors.
  • Advanced computer and data entry skills.

Successful Candidate Primary Functions and Knowledge

  • Lead finance staff in setting and achieving financial goals, including management of the Controller, Financial Manager, and Revenue Cycle Manager.
  • Lead organizational financial activities.
  • Manage planning, budgeting, strategizing, maintaining, and forecasting for all financial activities.
  • Oversee audits, financial reporting requirements, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop positive relationships with the CEO, Finance Committee, Board of Directors, external auditors, and payor sources.
  • Possess solid experience and advanced knowledge of financial leadership in a health care setting, including education requirements and preferred credentials (CPA or CMA).
  • Demonstrate expertise in cost accounting and performance management systems, revenue cycle improvement, and financial planning through forecasting across state, federal, and third-party payors.
  • Maintain advanced computer and data entry skills.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field. Location: Sioux City, IA (onsite).
