Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Job Description
MW Components is seeking a strategic finance leader to oversee enterprise FP&A for a multi-site industrial business. This role drives planning, forecasting, management reporting, and decision support, partnering closely with executives and business teams to translate operational drivers into actionable financial insights.
Role overview
As Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), you will lead the company’s planning and analysis functions while partnering across commercial and operations to support revenue, cost, productivity, inventory, and capital-spending decisions. You will also shape how the organization measures performance through standardized KPIs, dashboards, and forward-looking analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead the annual budget, long-range plan, and rolling forecast cycles, ensuring clear assumptions, ownership, and alignment with strategic priorities.
- Provide timely management reporting, including variance analysis, business-driver commentary, and related risks and opportunities.
- Partner with commercial and operations leaders on analysis of revenue, volume, price, mix, material cost, labor, overhead, productivity, inventory, and capital spending.
- Build scenario models and business cases to support growth initiatives, pricing decisions, capacity investments, footprint optimization, acquisitions, and other strategic actions.
- Develop and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and standardized reporting to strengthen accountability and improve decision-making across locations and functions.
- Deliver forward-looking insights on profitability, cash flow, working capital, and return on investment, and recommend corrective actions when performance diverges from the plan.
- Support executive and board-level presentations with concise, decision-oriented analysis and a clear financial narrative.
- Enhance planning tools and processes by improving data quality, advancing reporting automation, and strengthening financial workflows in partnership with accounting, information technology, and business teams.
- Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing FP&A team with strong analytical skills, business partnering, and communication capabilities.
- Promote a disciplined control environment and ensure planning and reporting activities comply with company policies and applicable requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field; MBA, CPA, CMA, or similar credential preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive finance experience, including FP&A leadership experience.
- Proven success in manufacturing, distribution, industrial products, or another operationally complex multi-site environment.
- Strong command of financial modeling, forecasting, management reporting, profitability analysis, and cash-flow drivers.
- Advanced proficiency with enterprise resource planning, planning, business intelligence, and spreadsheet tools; experience improving systems and automating reporting preferred.
- Experience leading and developing teams through change, evolving priorities, and tight reporting cycles.
- Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards; IFRS knowledge is a plus.
- Experience with financial software and ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite, Visual, Epicor) and consolidation software (Hyperion, Adaptive) is a plus.
Education
- Bachelors or better in Accounting or related field
