Job Description
Trump Winery seeks a Director of Finance, Controller to oversee accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance across winery and hospitality operations onsite in Charlottesville, VA.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, financial statements, tax compliance, and licensing.
- Prepare timely P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and other financial analyses.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and department heads to develop operating and capital budgets; monitor budget versus actuals and provide variance explanations and recommendations.
- Oversee banking activities, monitor cash flow, perform reconciliations, and issue weekly cash flow reports; approve bank transactions, wire transfers, ACH payments, and capex purchase requests.
- Maintain orderly accounting records and an accurate chart of accounts.
- Coordinate with external CPAs for annual tax returns, tax planning, and preparation of documentation to support taxes and compliance.
- Prepare and issue annual 1099s and ensure timely reporting compliance.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and excise tax filings, primarily through third‑party software with some manual processing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five years of progressive accounting and financial experience.
- Experience in winery, hotel, agriculture, or hospitality environments is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate across departments.
- Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience leading and mentoring a financial operations team.

Location
Trump Winery, onsite in Charlottesville, VA. The site is described as about 20 minutes south of Downtown Charlottesville and 20 minutes north of Scottsville.
Salary
USD 90,000 - 130,000 per year, depending on experience.
