Director of Finance (Private Equity / Real Estate)
Job Description
Lead fund and property finance operations for Duke Capital Ventures, reporting to the Managing Principal and owning monthly close, tax compliance, lender/investor reporting, and portfolio analytics.
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly close and financial statements across all properties and legal entities, including reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and internal controls
- Design and implement tax strategies to minimize risk, maintain regulatory compliance, and improve process efficiency across the company and its entities
- Coordinate the Managing Principal’s personal and business tax planning with outside tax advisors; act as a primary internal resource for tax, accounting, and financial topics
- Structure and time capital contributions, distributions, acquisitions, and dispositions to support tax efficiency
- Manage tax treatment of equity investment income in conjunction with real estate holdings
- Provide quarterly tax projections and proactive recommendations for planning
- Prepare lender reporting, monitor loan covenants, and manage reserve draw requests
- Administer distributions, waterfalls, capital accounts, and K-1s for investors and partners
- Prepare property budgets, CAM reconciliations, and variance reporting
- Support acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancings with diligence and closing accounting
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7+ years of progressive accounting, tax, or finance experience, including real estate or fund accounting
- CPA license or actively pursuing a CPA
- Deep familiarity with pass-through entity taxation (LLCs, partnerships, S-corps) and multi-entity tax coordination
- Experience with real estate tax planning strategies and investment income tax planning
- Experience with partnership/fund accounting, distribution waterfalls, and lender reporting
- Proficiency with Yardi Voyager/8, Excel, and QuickBooks
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, including ASC 842 lease accounting, plus financial reporting, general ledger management, reconciliations, budgeting, and forecasting
- Resourceful, articulate, and solution-oriented; able to work independently and collaboratively while improving tax and financial processes for operational efficiency
- Ability to interface confidently with strategic partners including legal and tax professionals, investors, banks, lenders, and other third parties

Compensation and Location
- Location: Mountain View, CA (onsite, office-based; not remote)
- Salary: USD $110,000 - $150,000 per year
- DCV operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy; total compensation may vary based on performance and prior experience
- Eligible for discretionary bonus(es)
Encouraged (What Helps)
