Job Description

Maggie's Farm in Pueblo, Colorado is seeking a Finance Associate to join onsite and support daily accounting and financial operations. This role ensures precise record-keeping, timely payments, and compliant financial reporting and analysis to back business operations and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Process and code a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and timely.
  • Establish and manage vendor records.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and address any discrepancies.
  • Execute real-time electronic payments, including ACH and wire transfers.
  • Review employee expense reimbursements and process payments accordingly.
  • Record and reconcile company credit and debit card transactions.
  • Maintain accurate 1099 reporting and vendor compliance at year-end.
  • Keep QuickBooks Enterprise records up to date and accurately maintained.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Conduct weekly reconciliations of general ledger, bank, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure accuracy and timely processing bi-weekly.
  • Maintain organized financial documentation for audits and internal reviews at all times.
  • Produce monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Analyze financial performance and highlight budget variances.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow projections.
  • Provide leadership with financial reporting and ad hoc analyses.
  • Maintain GAAP compliance and adherence to company accounting policies.
  • Review invoices for sales tax accuracy and calculate use tax when applicable.
  • Prepare timely tax filings for sales, excise, property, real estate, and other obligations to support cash flow projections.
  • Uphold internal controls over spending and budgeting to safeguard assets and financial data.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including cannabis industry financial requirements.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Purchasing, and Human Resources to support financial processes.
  • Provide professional customer service to vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least three years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience in accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • High integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial data.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) Employee Badge; employment contingent on obtaining and maintaining an active MED badge.
