Finance Director (Nonprofit- Senior Center)
Job Description
Converse County Aging Services is seeking a Finance Director to lead nonprofit financial operations for programs serving older adults across Converse County. This role will function as part of the organization’s leadership team, working alongside the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, external auditors, and community partners.
Role Overview
The Finance Director will manage day-to-day accounting and financial management activities, including budgeting, reporting, cash flow monitoring, internal controls, and financial planning. The position also supports the annual audit and helps strengthen financial systems to improve efficiency, reporting, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations for the organization.
- Prepare and monitor organizational budgets.
- Prepare financial reports for leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Monitor cash flow, revenues, and expenditures.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting financial documentation.
- Support payroll and related financial processes.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing financial planning.
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and other financial professionals.
- Support the annual audit process.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, efficiency, reporting, and accountability.
- Provide financial information and analysis to support organizational decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Strong accounting and financial management skills.
- Experience with budgeting and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, payroll, and general ledger activity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial staff and leadership.
- Strong computer skills and experience with financial software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary: $70,000 annually, with consideration given to experience and qualifications.
