Job Description
RM Advisory Services, LLC is recruiting an early-career Financial Analyst to support WMATA’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer. Based in Alexandria, VA, this onsite role focuses on building Excel-based models and decision support that inform forecasting, budget analysis, and long-range affordability across revenue, costs, and funding sources.
In this position, you will partner with finance leadership to develop tools and analyses covering personnel costs, operating expenses, contracts, grants, and affordability planning. The work also includes presenting findings in clear Excel, PowerPoint, and Word summaries for executive review.
Key Responsibilities
- Build Excel-based financial models and forecasting tools for personnel costs, revenue, contracts, grants, and operating expenses
- Support two-year and six-year forecasting and long-range affordability analysis
- Conduct budget-to-actual variance analysis and track expense trends
- Develop business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and staffing alternative analyses
- Forecast fare and non-fare revenue, including scenario and sensitivity analysis
- Support analyses related to grants, subsidies, contracts, operational costs, and energy costs
- Create reusable templates, dashboards, and reporting tools
- Prepare concise Excel, PowerPoint, and Word summaries for leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Public Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or data analysis focused on government or transportation
- Must be located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Government and/or transportation sector experience strongly preferred
