Job Description

Palomar Health is hiring a Financial Analyst III for Financial Planning in San Marcos, CA (onsite) to support financial feasibility, planning, and budget management across acute and skilled nursing service lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and analyze the financial condition of Palomar Health programs and facilities.
  • Develop financial feasibility studies for proposed new programs and assess evaluations for existing programs.
  • Support the strategic planning process.
  • Assist with development and monitoring of multi-year financial plans and service lines.
  • Prepare capital and operating budgets for Palomar Health acute and skilled nursing facilities.
  • Track progress toward organizational financial goals related to long-range financial plans and annual operating budgets.
  • Determine costs for providing specific health care services across a broad range of acute and skilled nursing services and service lines.
  • Recommend changes to operating procedures and processes to achieve the least costly alternative.
  • Monitor labor productivity and labor costs across a broad spectrum of departments within acute and skilled facilities.
  • Use benchmark data to evaluate performance of current operations.
  • Use experience and judgment to plan and complete a variety of complex tasks with a high degree of independence.
  • May lead and mentor others within the Financial Planning department or health system.
  • Serve as a resource to Palomar Health managers, directors, and executives regarding financial performance of operating units.
  • Provide strong written and verbal communication due to frequent interaction with department leadership.
  • Maintain compliance with Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, and applicable laws and standards.
  • Carry out Palomar Health mission, vision, and quality commitment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors Degree
  • Preferred Education: Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years of Acute Health Care financial management
  • Preferred Experience: 5 years of Acute Health Care financial management
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Language: Speak and read English at a level sufficient to perform the essential functions
  • Computer Skills: Thorough knowledge of widely used PC software
  • Office Equipment Knowledge: Standard office equipment (calculator, fax, photocopier)
  • Technology/Software Skills: Personal computer and software skills including MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, and e-mail
  • Windows Proficiency: Keyboarding and mouse or key functions (selecting items, dropdown menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying, and similar operations). Proficiency required upon employment or within the first two weeks.
  • License: Valid Driver's License
