Job Description
The Financial Consultant role at Gallagher Benefit Services is an onsite position in Walnut Creek, CA. This role guides account teams and clients in financial decision making using specialized tools and represents the Financial & Actuarial Consulting team in core service discussions and client-facing meetings. It requires a Bachelor's degree, a minimum of three years of experience in the employee benefits field in an underwriting capacity, and offers a salary range of USD 70,000 to 136,500 per year.
Responsibilities
- Apply advanced skills to evaluate and present monthly, quarterly, and annual reports that reflect client financial status, track product line expenses, renewal projections, funding levels, and rates to Account Management teams and clients as needed.
- Train subordinates and develop their capabilities.
- Demonstrate proficiency with various proprietary models and tools used to calculate financial results.
- Analyze carrier data for clients and provide recommendations to account teams or clients to effectively negotiate rates and funding levels.
- Prepare, analyze, and consult on diverse client deliverables defined by the Financial & Actuarial Consulting team scope of services.
- Assess whether analyses make sense beyond the numbers and think conceptually about outcomes.
- Complete special assignments as directed by management.
- Maintain workflow tracking applications or logs in line with management and departmental protocols.
- Oversee review of contract documents to understand client parameters that may impact financial reports and identify training opportunities for subordinates.
- Evaluate, assign, monitor, and peer review reports produced by subordinates within the Financial Benefits Consulting team when requested.
- Demonstrate the ability to gather required data for successful project completion with minimal supervision.
- Serve as a resource to branch office staff to resolve complex underwriting questions raised by clients.
- Stay informed about local market developments to keep branches equipped with competitive tools.
- Assist in preparing presentations, campaigns, newsletters, and other materials related to Financial Benefits Consulting policies and services for internal staff and clients/prospects.
- Maintain proficiency with internal systems, including workflow tracking applications, and ensure compliance.
- Exhibit strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Manage escalated service issues to productive outcomes.
- Oversee communications from Analysts regarding processes and data needed for effective client financial analysis.
- Peer review and suggest improvements for materials and notices shared across the region and the divisional Financial Benefits Consulting team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Three years of experience within the employee benefits field in an underwriting capacity.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
