Job Description
The Financial Controller at Trailer Boss will design and implement robust financial systems, reporting, and operational controls to support the company's growth. This hybrid role is based in Salt Lake City, UT or Washington State, with flexible, collaborative engagement across leadership and operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Prepare precise financial statements and management reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage the general ledger, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and core accounting workflows.
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to inform liquidity planning.
- Construct location level profit and loss reporting and monitor performance trends.
- Supervise inventory accounting and flooring liabilities to ensure proper valuation and controls.
- Monitor costs, margins, and profitability across trailers to support data-driven decisions.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes with rigorous financial input.
- Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Collaborate with operations leadership to improve financial visibility and decision-making.
- Assist with lender, banking, insurance, and audit relationships as needed.
- Support future system implementations and process improvements to scale operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
- Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager experience preferred
- Strong understanding of financial statements and GAAP principles
- Experience with inventory-based businesses strongly preferred
- Experience with multi-location operations preferred
- Proficient in Excel and financial analysis
- Experience with QuickBooks and modern business systems
- Demonstrated reliability, integrity, discretion, and sound judgment
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment
