Job Description
Situated in Dunn, North Carolina, Richards Welding & Metal Fabrication LLC seeks a Senior Financial Controller to safeguard the company’s financial health within a steel fabrication setting. The role prioritizes strong internal controls, accurate reporting, and strategic financial leadership to support manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will collaborate with production and operations leadership to turn cost data into actionable business insights.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain key financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow analyses.
- Ensure timely, precise, and compliant reporting to senior management, external auditors, and regulators.
- Provide financial analysis to guide strategic decisions, highlighting trends and performance metrics.
- Develop, implement, and monitor the annual budget process.
- Collaborate with department heads in production, operations, and sales to ensure forecasts align with strategic goals.
- Analyze variances between actual results and forecasts to support corrective actions.
- Design, implement, and enforce internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure GAAP or IFRS compliance.
- Lead audits and coordinate with external auditors to maintain standards and tax compliance.
- Oversee tax filings and ensure legal obligations are met.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to maintain adequate liquidity for daily operations.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable to optimize working capital and cash flow.
- Coordinate with the finance team on working capital management, including inventory control, procurement, and payment schedules.
- Oversee cost accounting specific to steel fabrication processes and ensure accurate job costing.
- Track material, labor, and overhead costs to determine project profitability.
- Partner with the production team to analyze manufacturing costs and identify efficiency improvements.
- Provide analysis on KPIs such as profit margins, ROI, and production costs.
- Support senior management with long-term strategic planning through forecasting and risk assessment.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvements, and overall operational efficiency.
- Supervise the finance and accounting team, offering guidance and mentorship.
- Ensure ongoing staff training to stay current with accounting standards and software.
- Foster cross-department collaboration, especially with production and operations, to align financial and operational goals.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required; professional credentials such as a CPA or CMA are often preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on manufacturing or industrial sectors; experience in steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing is highly valued.
- Proficiency with accounting software (such as SAP, QuickBooks, or ERP systems) and advanced Excel for data analysis.
- Strong attention to detail essential for accurate fabrication job costing.
- Ability to convey complex financial data to non-financial managers and senior leaders effectively.
