Job Description

Arkansas Hospice, Inc. is seeking an executive finance leader to help guide the organization’s financial direction and stewardship. This onsite North Little Rock role supports strategic planning, strong internal controls, and clear, timely reporting for leadership and governing boards, along with benefits that help you take care of yourself and your family.

Responsibilities

As a member of the executive leadership team, you will help set annual budgets, long-range financial plans, forecasts, and financial strategies aligned with organizational priorities. You will partner with the President and CEO and other members of the Leadership Team to translate financial performance into actionable recommendations for both leadership and the Board.

  • Lead accounting, audit, accounts receivable, cash management, treasury, investment, asset management, and payroll oversight
  • Prepare accurate monthly financial and operating reports, analyses, forecasts, and executive-level recommendations
  • Develop summary financial presentations for the Board and provide regular reporting to the Board, Finance Committee, and related committees
  • Serve as a non-voting member of the Board of Directors of LifeTouch Health, Inc., participating in board meetings and committees as assigned
  • Coordinate Finance Committee materials and distribute packets at least one week before scheduled meetings
  • Continuously monitor funds held by financial institutions and, with the Finance Committee, move funds to appropriate investments consistent with approved policies
  • Establish and regularly assess accounting procedures, financial systems, internal controls, recordkeeping practices, and safeguards
  • Recommend and implement departmental policies and procedures that strengthen controls, compliance, service quality, and operational efficiency
  • Oversee financial and billing software applications and ensure effective implementation and ongoing use
  • Review and coordinate commercial insurance and managed-care contracts review with the CEO and Executive Team, including payer contracting and renegotiation support
  • Monitor regulatory changes impacting billing, accounting, finance, and assigned areas and coordinate timely implementation to maintain compliance
  • Coordinate annual Medicare Cost Report activities and ensure timely submission for required provider numbers
  • Coordinate annual Self Determination reporting requirements
  • Coordinate annual audit activities with an outside audit firm, including proposals every 3 years and meeting deadlines
  • Verify and support annual completion of provider-number enrollment documentation, including CMS-855 forms, and work with the A/R Manager on insurance credentialing and recredentialing
  • Collaborate with Controller, Assistant Controller, A/R Manager, and Compliance to monitor certification and recertification timeliness, billing integrity, and accounts receivable performance
  • Attend monthly Perform Bill Audit meetings and support processes for compliant documentation and clean claims
  • Oversee payroll-related internal controls and coordinate with Human Resources
  • Coordinate preparation of annual IRS Form 990 filings for LifeTouch Health and LifeTouch Health Foundation, ensuring timely submission and Board review
  • Manage relationships with auditors, financial institutions, investment advisors, insurance representatives, and other financial agents
  • Oversee assigned finance and non-finance departments, including goal setting, direction, evaluations, and staff development
  • Review departmental budgets and manage FTEs within guidelines, monitoring overtime and agency costs
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient, employee, financial, organizational, and proprietary information
  • Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, maintain dependable attendance, and pursue professional development
  • Work with minimal supervision and perform other duties assigned by the President and CEO
  • In accordance with Policy 100, assume the duties and responsibilities of the President and CEO in the absence of both the CEO and COO
  • Assist and analyze new projects requiring financial oversight and identify opportunities for stronger controls, improved efficiency, enhanced compliance, and better financial performance
  • Follow applicable workplace safety policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably in healthcare
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, audits, internal controls, reimbursement, system implementation, and regulatory compliance preferred
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Valid Arkansas driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
