Job Description
O'Reilly Development Company, a Springfield, Missouri based real estate developer and operator, seeks a senior finance leader to steward the firm's financial strategy across ODC, OMS, and affiliated entities. This role reports to the President & CFO and collaborates closely with development, asset management, investor relations, and corporate operations to manage capital, risk, and financial operations.
This onsite position requires a minimum of ten years of progressive finance experience and a Bachelor’s degree.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for accounting, treasury, financial reporting, tax coordination, and internal controls while mentoring the Controller and accounting team; establish clear expectations and professional development opportunities; ensure accurate and timely reporting across corporate, development, operating, and investment entities.
- Partner with development leadership through project sourcing, underwriting, predevelopment, construction, and stabilization; assist in preparing budgets, project pro formas, investment committee materials, and financing packages; analyze historical costs and market trends to validate assumptions and improve underwriting accuracy.
- Monitor the financial and operational performance of the portfolio, including senior housing, multifamily, self-storage, and other real estate investments; evaluate performance against underwriting and budgets; analyze occupancy, revenue, expenses, NOI, cash flow, debt service coverage, and return metrics; identify opportunities to enhance property performance.
- Support debt and equity capital formation; participate in meetings with lenders, investors, joint venture partners, and capital partners; assist in structuring, analyzing, negotiating, and executing financing transactions; maintain relationships with banks, institutional capital providers, family offices, sponsors, and strategic partners; prepare financing requests and lender presentations.
- Identify, evaluate, and monitor financial, operational, contractual, regulatory, and investment risks across development and operating assets; review major contracts and loan documents to identify financial and risk-management considerations; partner with legal counsel and executive leadership to negotiate terms that protect capital.
- Support long-range planning, forecasting, and strategic initiatives; develop financial models, scenario analyses, and sensitivity analyses to inform major business decisions; assess processes and recommend improvements to reporting, technology usage, automation, and operational efficiency; assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, benchmarking, and performance measurement.
- Demonstrate leadership aligned with ODC values, foster cross-functional collaboration across development, construction, accounting, asset management, legal, investor relations, and operations; promote accountability, continuous improvement, and disciplined decision-making; serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team and business partners; recruit, develop, and retain high-performing finance and accounting professionals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field (required).
- Ten or more years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, real estate, development, investment management, or related disciplines (required).
- Minimum of ten years in finance roles (required).
- Experience overseeing multiple legal entities and complex ownership structures (required).
- Experience managing external auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, lenders, and financial consultants (required).
- Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, internal controls, and risk management (required).
- Experience interacting directly with lenders, investors, attorneys, and executive leadership teams (required).
