The role sits in the General Motors Finance Group in Warren, Michigan, and offers a hybrid work arrangement. You will collaborate across Controllership, Finance, IT, and operations, building partnerships that strengthen controls, drive efficiency, and enhance reporting. Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise general ledger activity, including posting journal entries and reconciliations in line with US GAAP.
- Identify and resolve accounting risks, issues, and process gaps through thorough assessment.
- Review new warranty coverages and create related financial models.
- Develop and analyze actuarial warranty forecasting models to support planning.
- Assist with quarterly reserve adequacy studies by analyzing claims data.
- Evaluate warranty reserve balances using appropriate actuarial techniques.
- Contribute to annual warranty accrual rate setting activities.
- Provide data, analysis, and ad hoc support to Finance, Product Development, Quality, and Engineering teams.
- Execute internal controls, SOX compliance activities, and established financial procedures.
- Support financial reporting, including consolidated results, SEC documents, and management reporting.
- Assist with audit requests and resolve open items promptly.
- Improve accounting practices, policies, processes, and controls; leverage technology to strengthen controls and reporting.
- Present financial results to stakeholders and leadership with clarity and precision.
- Support special projects and other ad hoc business requests as needed.
- Foster strong partnerships across Controllership, Finance, IT, and operations while modeling GM safety values.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years in accounting or finance roles.
- Experience with enterprise accounting systems such as SAP or Oracle Hyperion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of US GAAP and current financial reporting standards.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.

Technology
Location and work arrangement
This is a hybrid role based in Warren, MI. The successful candidate will report to General Motors Global Headquarters in Warren, MI at least three days per week, with frequency determined by business needs.
