Job Description
Native Americans for Community Action seeks a strategic Chief Financial Officer to guide the nonprofit’s financial infrastructure, from budgeting and audits to internal controls and grant management. Based onsite in Flagstaff, Arizona, the CFO will collaborate with leadership to steward revenue, compliance, and financial strategy across programs and funding streams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all fiscal budgets and grant funds for the organization, including revenue and expense tracking, balance sheet reporting, and reports to funding agencies; monitor development of organizational and contract/grant budgets.
- Oversee the organization’s third party billing to insurance companies for clinic services; negotiate third party contracts for clinic services; work with administrative staff to ensure provider productivity and sustainable revenue generation.
- Prepare annual documentation for required reports: Medicare Cost Report, AHCCCS Reconciliation Report, Indirect Cost Report, and Uniform Data Report.
- Supervise the Finance staff and the Billing Manager, including training and performance evaluation.
- Provide the CEO with an operating budget and support program success through cost analysis and compliance with contractual and programmatic requirements.
- Ensure purchasing and payroll activity for staff and participants adheres to local, state, and federal guidelines and NACA approved policies.
- Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets and oversee federal awards and programs.
- Coordinate the work of independent auditors, ensure all A-133 audit issues are resolved, ensure 403(b) compliance, and prepare annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable schedules and information.
- Coordinate the annual financial audit, prepare worksheets and documentation for auditors, and assist in other financial reviews by funding agencies as needed.
- Prepare program budgets, review budget proposals, and assemble required supporting documentation; review program reports and advise program administrators of needed modifications; prepare budget modifications for funding agency approval as needed.
- Attend all Board and Management meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Five or more years of progressively responsible practical experience in financial accounting and planning for a medium sized organization, preferably a nonprofit or governmental organization, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Must possess a Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card and pass a background check
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, controls and practices
- Knowledge of third-party billing to insurance companies for clinical services
- Knowledge of automated accounting systems and software and their application to accounting functions
- Knowledge of financial and grant accounting and reporting practices and procedures

Compensation
Salary: USD 115,000 - 117,500 per year
