Job Description
The Chief Financial Officer will shape long-term financial direction and oversee core finance operations for a growing civil dirt contracting business in Kerrville, Texas. This role is responsible for accurate reporting, compliance, internal controls, and strategic financial decision support.
Role Overview
The Chief Financial Officer will develop and implement long-term financial strategies aligned with company goals, including revenue growth, cost management, and capital allocation. The position manages cash flow, budgeting and forecasting, risk management, and provides financial guidance to executive leadership. The CFO also leverages AI-enabled planning and automated reporting capabilities to improve efficiency and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement long-term financial strategies aligned with company objectives, including revenue growth, cost management, and capital allocation.
- Oversee accounting and finance functions, and sometimes IT or HR departments, to maintain accurate financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
- Monitor cash flow, manage company assets, and optimize capital structure, including debt, equity, and internal financing.
- Prepare annual budgets, financial forecasts, and management reports to support business decisions.
- Identify financial risks, implement mitigation strategies, and oversee internal audits and compliance activities.
- Evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investments, including conducting financial due diligence and assessing risks.
- Provide financial information to the CEO and advise on strategic decisions.
- Use AI-powered financial planning, automated variance analysis, and LLM-assisted reporting to enhance planning effectiveness and reporting workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible finance experience, including leadership roles.
- Ability to lead finance teams, influence executive decisions, and align financial strategy with broader business objectives.
- Strong capability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Experience with AI-driven financial tools, FP&A platforms, and automated reporting systems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for interacting with executives, boards, and external partners.
