Job Description
The Commercial Finance Analyst supports the Commercial team with customer performance analysis, quoting, margin analysis, quarterly forecasting, and the annual budget.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate quote packages for profitability, margin impact, and alignment with strategic targets.
- Analyze margins and overall profitability across quote packages and propose recommendations to uncover discrepancies or risks before submission.
- Identify risks, margin gaps, and cost inconsistencies in quotes and highlight opportunities to enhance profitability.
- Assess key quote assumptions such as material, labor, overhead, scrap, tooling, freight, volume, capital, and program timing to ensure financial completeness and accuracy.
- Compare quoted assumptions to actual performance when available and propose refinements for future quotes.
- Contribute to forecasting by analyzing quoted and awarded business, pricing assumptions, and launch outlook.
- Evaluate pricing scenarios and offer recommendations considering cost structure, target margins, customer dynamics, and business goals.
- Assist pricing decisions for new and existing business, cost changes, and margin improvement opportunities.
- Foster consistent pricing discipline and financial review within the quoting workflow.
- Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering and Tooling to understand cost drivers and cost assumptions.
- Support analysis of cost increases and changes in operating costs and their impact on customer or product profitability.
- Improve visibility into margins at the product, customer, and program levels.
- Report to the VP of Finance and HR with a dotted line to the Director of Technical Sales; work closely with Technical Sales, Engineering, Customer Service, and Operations teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in financial analysis, commercial finance, pricing, quoting analysis, cost analysis, FP&A, manufacturing finance, or related roles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, pivot tables, lookup functions, scenario analysis, and managing large data sets.
- Experience supporting quoting, pricing, product costing, margin analysis, or customer profitability is preferred.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to identify trends in large data sets.
- Ability to translate data into actionable business recommendations.
- Understanding of manufacturing cost structures, including labor, overhead, materials, tooling, and freight is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
- Excellent planning, organizational, coordination, and time management skills.

Pay
- $77,000 - $90,000 per year
