Director of Finance

Based in Georgetown, South Carolina, this onsite Director of Finance leads the organization’s financial operations with a focus on governmental accounting, budgeting, and reporting to safeguard fiscal integrity and regulatory compliance. The role partners with the Executive Director to drive strategic growth and sustainable development initiatives while maintaining strong financial controls. This position supports enterprise resilience through sound financial management and audit-ready records.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accounting in a compliant, audit-friendly condition, ensuring proper audit trails and adherence to reporting and procurement requirements
• Maintain payroll records
• Prepare all tax deposits and quarterly reports
• At year end, prepare and distribute all employees’ W-2s and file necessary wage reports with government agencies promptly
• Oversee that billing for services is monitored and submitted
• Produce monthly financial reports in a timely manner
• Process payments to vendors and other payees promptly
• Prepare financial statements for the board
• Notify the Executive Director of financial matters requiring special attention
• Collaborate with the Executive Director in the preparation of budgets
• Handle all bank deposits
• Independently reconcile bank statements
• Maintain and update all insurance coverages, including workers' compensation and property liability
• Represent the agency professionally to vendors and funders
• Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Finance (Bachelor's Degree preferred) or related field
• Two years of accounting experience
• Grant writing experience is helpful
• Comprehensive knowledge of governmental accounting principles (GASB), including fund accounting, modified accrual accounting, and budgetary control techniques
• Experience in preparing financial reports, managing financial administration, and supporting internal audits to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
