Finance Director
Job Description
The Finance Director role is responsible for leading the organization’s financial operations, strengthening fiscal controls, and delivering analysis and reporting that support strategic decision-making. The position provides oversight across accounting, compliance, risk analysis, treasury management, budgeting and forecasting, and financial systems, while also leading and mentoring the finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement finance strategies aligned to organizational objectives, supporting robust fiscal management and sustainable growth.
- Oversee core accounting activities, including general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable, and cost accounting.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations, including IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and industry-specific requirements.
- Manage financial reporting deliverables, including accurate financial statements, profit and loss analysis, and regulatory reporting.
- Perform risk analysis to identify potential financial vulnerabilities and establish mitigation strategies.
- Direct treasury management activities, including cash flow analysis, investment management, and banking relationship oversight.
- Create financial projection models to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
- Oversee the implementation and ongoing maintenance of accounting systems and financial software to improve data accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Lead the finance team through mentorship, professional development, and performance management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on business development initiatives, cost control measures, and revenue management strategies.
- Maintain compliance with revenue recognition requirements, including ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and other relevant industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in finance leadership roles, including a proven record as a Finance Director or in an equivalent position.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, ASC 606, and industry-specific financial regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in corporate accounting and experience with governmental accounting (if applicable), non-profit accounting (if applicable), and public accounting practices.
- Proficiency with financial analysis tools, data analytics software, Excel data analysis techniques, and financial modeling development.
- Sound understanding of risk management principles, fiscal management practices, budgeting processes, and cost control strategies.
- Experience preparing financial statements, performing account reconciliation, conducting cash flow analysis, and supporting investment management.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively and support a collaborative environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear financial report writing and interpretation for diverse audiences.
- Technical proficiency with accounting systems and financial software platforms.
- Strategic thinking ability with a comprehensive understanding of industry trends in financial markets.
