Job Description

Pasadena Senior Center is looking for a senior finance leader to protect the organization’s financial health while partnering across teams to support its mission of serving older adults. This full-time, exempt role is based on-site in Los Angeles, CA, with an annual salary of $85,000 to $90,000 and a benefits package that includes 401(k) matching, health and dental insurance, vision coverage, and paid time off.

What you’ll do

As the Finance Director and HR partner, you will oversee core financial operations and lead strategic planning through budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. You will also strengthen controls and ensure compliance across nonprofit accounting, IRS requirements, state charitable reporting, and grant obligations.

  • Manage day-to-day accounting including AP/AR, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and monthly close
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Board
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, monitor performance, and deliver variance analysis
  • Maintain cash flow forecasting to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations
  • Serve as primary liaison with external auditors, including audit schedules and ensuring timely completion
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard organizational assets
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, IRS regulations, state charitable reporting, and grant requirements
  • Track restricted funds, prepare grant budgets, and ensure reporting compliance
  • Review financial terms of contracts and monitor performance against obligations
  • Own relationships with financial institutions, maintain authorized signers, and ensure proper documentation during leadership transitions
  • Support monitoring of investment accounts and adherence to PSC’s investment policy
  • Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with labor and tax laws
  • Partner with HR on benefits administration, compensation analysis, and personnel budgeting
  • Provide financial modeling for long-term planning and capital projects
  • Supervise and mentor finance staff, fostering accuracy, accountability, and service
  • Work closely with program, development, and facilities teams to support operational needs

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive nonprofit financial management experience
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and fund accounting
  • Experience managing audits, grants, and multi-fund budgets
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks (or similar) and strong Excel skills
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
  • Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and commitment to PSC’s mission
