Job Description

The Travelers Companies, Inc. offers a growth-focused path for finance and accounting professionals. The Finance & Accounting Leadership Development Program (FALDP) spans three years of structured rotations designed to sharpen technical skills, expand business insight, and cultivate leadership capabilities. The program also provides CPA certification eligibility and places participants into finance or accounting roles upon completion, supporting long-term career progression within the organization.

Program overview

The FALDP is a three-year rotational program that exposes participants to accounting and controllership, audit, and finance. Rotations may occur across diverse enterprise groups, including Claim, Corporate, Technology, Operations, and other business units. With targeted learning and development, participants engage in hands-on assignments covering accounting controls, finance, self-leadership, and influence. The program also offers mentoring, networking, community involvement, and opportunities to lead projects. CPA certification eligibility is a key component, with placement into finance or accounting roles after program completion.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in rotations across accounting/controllership, audit, and finance within multiple enterprise groups.
  • Engage in hands-on assignments focusing on accounting and controls, finance, self-leadership, and influencing others.
  • Access mentoring, networking, and project leadership opportunities as part of development.
  • Gain experience in areas such as accounting and controllership, auditing and internal controls, FP&A, and financial reporting and modeling.
  • Develop technical expertise, business insight, and leadership skills to prepare for future finance and accounting roles.
  • Occasional travel for business meetings and events is expected.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.4 or greater.
  • At least one year of finance, accounting, or related industry experience (including internships).
  • Willingness to relocate to Hartford, CT or St. Paul, MN.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential through internships, extracurricular activities, or work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to excellence, integrity, and continuous growth.
  • Strong work ethic and high level of critical and analytical thinking.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Location and technology

Onsite in Hartford, CT. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required and supported throughout the program.

Compensation

Salary range: $63,800 - $105,400 per year. The final offer is determined by factors such as role scope, location, candidate qualifications, and experience as part of Travelers compensation practices.
