Finance Officer

Responsibilities

• Handle core accounting tasks, including posting journal entries, producing financial statements, and reconciling accounts for Highlands Bankshares, Inc. and HBI Life Insurance Company.
• Compile the Annual Report.
• Prepare Federal Reserve Call Reports.
• Generate quarterly holding company adjusting entries.
• Prepare holding company eliminating entries.
• Support the year end close process.
• Coordinate both internal and external audits.
• Work with the tax accountant on tax computations and supply tax schedules when requested.
• Prepare and file required regulatory reports for the holding company with the Federal Reserve, West Virginia Division of Banking, West Virginia Secretary of State, and other duties as assigned by governance bodies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred or equivalent
• Solid grounding in accounting principles and practices
• Familiarity with applicable local, state, and federal laws governing accounting, finance, and taxation
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective communication abilities
• Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Demonstrated initiative
• Ability to work well in a team setting
• High level of confidentiality is essential
