Job Description
On site in Dickinson, ND, this Finance Senior Accountant role offers a competitive pay range and a comprehensive benefits package within a collaborative, public-service environment. The position supports fiscal health and accountability for public funds by handling advanced accounting tasks, grant administration, and financial analysis, reporting to the Deputy Finance Director. You will contribute to a transparent, innovation-driven finance team focused on the city’s financial future.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and reconcile monthly journal entries and balance sheets.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and state and federal financial regulations.
- Monitor cash, investments, and capital assets.
- Support grant tracking, reporting, and year-end activities.
- Collaborate with departments to develop budgets and deliver clear financial insights.
- Lead process improvements through technology and innovation.
Requirements
- Education: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Three to five years of accounting experience, ideally in a government setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accounting systems; strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License; North Dakota League of Cities Auditor Certification within one year of employment.
