Job Description

The Financial Controller role is an onsite position in Wolfforth, TX responsible for monthly financial statements, accounting processes and forecasts, and profitability analysis in collaboration with the executive team and department heads.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and delivers a comprehensive monthly financial statement in line with dealership guidelines.
  • Keeps manufacturer accounts current and accurate, including warranty claims, rebates, parts inventory, and co-op advertising balances.
  • Analyzes the financial statements and daily operating reports (DOC) regularly and informs the dealer principal of developing trends.
  • Meets regularly with department heads to review business matters and craft plans to boost profitability.
  • Develops short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.
  • Actively safeguards company assets and manages risks.
  • Produces daily, weekly, and monthly reports required by the management team.
  • Reviews the general ledger and scheduled accounts, investigating any unusual entries.
  • Ensures reconciliations of general ledger accounts to verify bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payables, floor plan payables, A/R, and A/P.
  • Proficient with multiple software systems (CDK, R&R) and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail.
  • Identifies issues and implements effective solutions.
  • Communicates effectively with individuals and groups as needed.

Requirements

  • Hands-on, interactive management style; works directly with the Executive Team on a daily basis.
  • Ability to provide accurate sales and expense analyses to improve profitability relative to monthly and annual forecasts.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices; familiarity with GAAP.
  • Basic understanding of corporate tax law and ability to adapt to changes.
  • GAAP experience is preferred (approximately 2 years).
