Job Description
Yellowstone Country Club in Billings, MT is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations. This onsite, full-time role serves as a strategic partner to the COO and offers a salary range of USD 80,000 to 100,000 per year, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly close and prepare or direct the creation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and supporting schedules
- Maintain internal controls to ensure record accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures
- Develop operating budgets and financial forecasts with the COO, department heads, and committees; analyze variances and recommend corrective actions
- Compile and validate financial reports for regulatory agencies and professional organizations
- Oversee inventories of food, beverage, supplies, equipment, furnishings, and other Club assets
- Maintain insurance records for Club property and assets
- Reconcile monthly ledgers across accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank accounts, asset accounts, and wage accounts
- Advise department heads on the financial implications of their operations
- Prepare or supervise federal, state, and local tax returns
- Produce accounting reports for the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other Club committees
- Maintain effective receiving and storeroom control procedures and ensure consistent adherence
- Cross-train administrative staff on accounting tasks
- Attend Board meetings, finance committee meetings, and other required sessions
- Oversee member billing, collections, and accounts receivable in line with Club policies
- Maintain vendor credit applications and records
- Audit member and guest charges, cash sheets, and expenditures for accuracy and compliance
- Safeguard Club funds and oversee bank deposits and check issuance
- Maintain tournament accounting records and financial statements
- Monitor delinquent accounts and advise management on potential risks
- Oversee issuance and management of membership certificates, including transfers, cancellations, refunds, and recoveries
- Collaborate with external accounting firms and advisors
- Prepare the annual financial report for presentation at the Club’s annual meeting
- Work with the COO and department heads on capital budgets and long-term financial planning
- Maintain confidentiality of Club, member, and employee information
- Negotiate and secure property and casualty insurance coverage to protect Club assets
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with concentration in business or administration and an accounting major or minor, including coursework in financial analysis and auditing
- Five years of accounting experience
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, stand, and lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Moderate noise level in the work environment
- Schedule is generally Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend or night events in a hospitality setting; advance notice will be provided
