In-House Accountant (CPA Preferred) – Financial Operations & Cost Control

Ta Canijo seeks an in-house accountant (CPA preferred) to manage QuickBooks-based financial records, reconciliations, tax filings, financial reporting, and cost-control analysis across its multi-entity restaurant group.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
• Review and organize vendor bills, customer invoices, payments, credits, deposits, and supporting documentation.
• Complete bank and credit card reconciliations and follow up on missing documentation or discrepancies.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Prepare, review, and support business tax filings, including organizing year-end tax documentation for multiple entities.
• Prepare and file Illinois ST-1 sales and use tax returns for multiple restaurant locations, using POS sales tax reports and QuickBooks records.
• Reconcile sales tax collected, taxable sales, and location-level reporting to help ensure accurate and timely filings.
• Monitor food, packaging, supply, and operating costs; review trends, variances, waste, and margins.
• Work closely with Operations, Purchasing, Restaurant Managers, Warehouse, Commissary, leadership, vendors, and outside tax professionals when needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience required.
• Experience preparing, reviewing, or supporting business tax filings required.
• Experience preparing and filing Illinois ST-1 sales and use tax returns required.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software required.
• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, financial recordkeeping, and tax documentation.
• Strong Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
