Senior Financial Analyst

Senior Financial Analyst in the Budget Office at The University of Mississippi Medical Center is responsible for developing and maintaining revenue and spending budgets, ensuring spending controls, and providing data for compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with deploying, presenting, and ongoing management of the capital, operating, statistical, and personnel budgets.
• Work with cross-functional teams to verify data submitted to budget and decision-support systems for accuracy.
• Conduct financial analyses and provide recommendations to senior leadership and other key stakeholders.
• Acquire knowledge and contribute to implementing a new Financial Planning, Reporting and Decision Support application; understand the system and configure it to meet UMMC requirements.
• Develop financial strategies, management reporting, and analytics for the organization.
• Prepare financial forecasts covering revenue, expenses, net income, cash flow, and borrowing needs.
• Interpret financial data against business drivers and strategies, presenting key findings and recommendations to enhance performance.
• Extract, verify, compile, analyze, and format data from healthcare databases and other sources for planning, benchmarking, decision support, evaluation and accountability.
• Reconcile Epic and Workday source data with the Financial Planning application.
• Generate monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc financial reports and analyses.
• Assess financial reports to confirm revenues and expenses are allocated to the correct cost centers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
• Three years of related experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Project management capabilities
• Proficient with Excel formulas or comparable spreadsheet skills
