Transportation Financial Accountant

CR Transport LLC is hiring an onsite Transportation Financial Accountant in Edinburg, TX. This role supports operational efficiency by delivering accurate reporting, clear cost analysis, and dependable compliance across transportation and logistics financials. If you enjoy turning transportation spend into actionable insights, this position offers a strong mix of reporting, budgeting support, and cross-team collaboration.

Compensation: USD 33,800 - 46,800 per year.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Analyze transportation costs, including fuel, maintenance, labor, tolls, and fleet expenses.
• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Assist with building budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for transportation operations.
• Monitor operating expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulations.
• Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable for transportation vendors and customers.
• Review freight invoices, carrier payments, and transportation contracts for financial accuracy.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
• Track fixed assets, including fleet vehicles and transportation equipment.
• Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to improve operational performance and profitability.
• Collaborate with operations, logistics, procurement, and management teams to support business objectives.

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in transportation, logistics, or supply chain.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar tools.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CMA designation preferred.
• Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and fleet management software.
• Knowledge of freight billing, fuel tax reporting, and transportation industry regulations.
• Experience with cost accounting and performance metrics.
