Deputy Finance Director / Deputy Treasurer

A Grand Ledge, MI municipality is seeking a Deputy Finance Director / Deputy Treasurer to oversee daily financial operations and supervise the Utility Billing Clerk, with leadership coverage when the Finance Director/Treasurer is unavailable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
• Support activities across the property tax cycle
• Administer end-to-end payroll processing, including tax filings and W-2 reporting
• Prepare pension reporting for both defined benefit and defined contribution plans
• Direct daily cash management and reconcile receipts
• Supervise utility billing operations and ACH payments
• Assist with employee benefits administration
• Provide leadership support and serve as Finance Director/Treasurer when assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
• 3+ years of progressive experience in payroll, property tax, cash handling, or municipal finance
• Prior supervisory experience is required
• Knowledge of municipal finance laws and accounting practices
• Proficiency with BS&A and Microsoft Office
• Strong communication, accuracy, and organizational abilities
• MiCPT preferred or willingness to obtain
