Job Description

The Director of Finance will oversee all financial activities for Cadden Community Management, directing budgeting, reporting, planning, cash flow management, and regulatory compliance. This leadership role manages the accounting team and oversees both HOA accounting and corporate finance functions.

Salary

USD 80,000 per year

Position Details

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CEO to develop and manage annual budgets, and forecast revenue and expenses.
  • Build financial models to evaluate potential business scenarios and outcomes.
  • Analyze financial trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and profit optimization.
  • Oversee preparation of financial reports and present findings to senior management and the board of directors.
  • Direct day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Ensure timely, GAAP-compliant financial reporting and maintain strong internal controls to protect assets and mitigate risk.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, including hiring, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage external audits and coordinate with auditing partners.
  • Supervise bookkeepers, collections, AP/AR, statements, special projects, and resale personnel.
  • Provide comprehensive accounting support for Client Associations, including AR, AP, and General Ledger.
  • Review monthly financial reports in accordance with accepted accounting principles and respond to Board inquiries.
  • Publish and enforce internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures; deliver staff training.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and software providers, banks, payables lockbox, and vendors.
  • Oversee payroll processes, including implementation of payroll software and bi-monthly input to QuickBooks.
  • Maintain the full accounting cycle for the organization, including daily AR, AP, GL, and bank reconciliations.
  • Code and enter vendor invoices, issue payments, bill customers, prepare deposits, and ensure correct GL allocations.
  • Manage banking activities, reconcile monthly statements, and monitor cash flow; reconcile intercompany expenses monthly.
  • Support budgeting efforts and assist the tax CPA with annual tax preparation; prepare 1099s when applicable.
  • Analyze accounting records and provide cash flow management recommendations.

Essential Functions of HOA Accounting

  • Supervise bookkeepers, collections, AP, AR, statements, special projects, and resale personnel.
  • Provide complete accounting support for Client Associations including AR, AP, and General Ledger.
  • Review monthly financial reports in accordance with GAAP and field questions from Board Members and homeowners as needed.
  • Formulate and publish internal controls, company policies, and procedures; train staff.
  • Act as liaison between the company and software providers, banks, payables lockbox, and vendors.
  • Oversee audits, reviews, compilations, and tax reporting.

Essential Functions of Corporate Finance

  • Implement and utilize payroll software; bi-monthly payroll input into QuickBooks from payroll software.
  • Maintain full accounting cycle for the corporate entity, including daily AR, AP, GL, and bank reconciliations.
  • Code and enter vendor invoices, issue checks, bill customers, and prepare deposits with proper GL allocations.
  • Manage all banking needs, reconcile monthly bank statements, and monitor cash flow; reconcile intercompany expenses monthly.
  • Review and publish monthly financial reports in line with GAAP; assist in budgeting.
  • Continue to formulate and publish internal controls, company policies, and procedures; ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Facilitate audits, reviews, compilations, and tax reporting; prepare annual 1099s and assist with tax preparation.
  • Analyze accounting records and provide cash flow management recommendations.

Requirements

  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant financial regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office environment. Standard office equipment is used, including computers, phones, and printers/scanners. Software tools include QuickBooks and Excel.

Physical Demands

The role requires regular verbal communication and the ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods; long periods may involve sitting.

Education and Experience (Required)

  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills

  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • 5+ years of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning

Education and Experience (Preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
