Job Description

Thrivent, in partnership with Voyage Financial Advisors, is seeking a Director of Planning Operations to help steer planning operations from its Wausau, Wisconsin onsite location. This role centers on hands-on financial planning, integrating AI-enabled tools, and coaching a high-performing planning team to shape client strategy and drive efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on financial analysis and plan development in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
  • Implement and leverage Microsoft Co-Pilot along with other AI tools to streamline processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop members of the financial planning team.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and delivery of comprehensive financial plans with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support the creation of financial plans as needed.
  • Develop clear, executable implementation steps for advisors to drive revenue through plan execution.
  • Collaborate with advisors on client planning strategy, meeting preparation, and advisor meeting guides.
  • Establish processes around required distributions, internal policy payments, death claims, and related opportunities.
  • Ensure client data accuracy and consistency across planning platforms and CRM systems.
  • Improve and scale planning and meeting preparation workflows, tasks, and opportunities to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Directly prepare meetings for 20 to 40 appointments weekly.
  • Serve as a senior planning resource on complex client cases.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client and firm information.
  • Uphold Thrivent policies, compliance standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Securities licenses: Series 7 and 66 or Series 7, 63 and 65, plus resident state Life, Health, and Annuities registration.
  • Background check, fingerprinting, and securities registration and/or insurance licensing verification as applicable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Financial Planning, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred.
  • Project and process management experience.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in financial planning or related financial services roles.
  • CFP designation preferred or ability to obtain within two years of start date.
  • Strong people, leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with financial planning tools, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Full compensation range of $90,000-$135,000 based on experience
