Job Description

The Finance Director (1099) is a part-time, hybrid role supporting Risk Management Foundation with strategic financial oversight, analysis, and compliance coordination alongside an outsourced accounting function. The position emphasizes review and judgment across reporting, cash flow, budgeting, real-estate and lending finance activities, and committee support.

Role Overview

In this independent contractor engagement, you will report to the CEO with regular exposure to the Board and committee work. The schedule is 2–3 days per week, based in Pensacola, FL (hybrid). This role is compensated as a 1099 retainer of $50,000 per year, with separate consulting fees for acquisition and loan origination projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review monthly financials prepared by outsourced accounting.
  • Maintain internal controls and financial policies.
  • Ensure clean documentation and audit-ready files.
  • Provide direction to the Accounting Support Specialist.
  • Lead the annual audit, supported by an outside accounting firm.
  • Coordinate with the CPA on 990 and 990-T filings and state requirements.
  • Oversee regulatory filings and ongoing compliance requirements.
  • Manage loan covenant and reserve-fund reporting.
  • Enhance internal controls, policies, and best practices related to real estate finance.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and monitor liquidity and payment timing.
  • Support banking relationships.
  • Build annual budgets and rolling forecasts for RMF, CHI, and subsidiaries.
  • Provide variance analysis and financial insights for leadership and committees.
  • Support pricing and long-term planning.
  • Maintain loan schedules and ongoing compliance documentation.
  • Maintain acquisition documentation.
  • Support 501(c)(7) lending and service committees, including financial materials for the Board.
  • Prepare and support committee materials for new acquisitions and new loan originations, including underwriting, modeling, due diligence, collateral verification, lender/title coordination, and closing support.
  • Support the Investment Committee and Finance & Acquisitions Committee.
  • Provide clear, concise financial communication across stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Real-estate finance experience required.
  • Strong financial modeling skills and proficiency with Excel and Sheets.
  • Experience working with outsourced accounting teams.
  • Clear communicator with steady, reliable, detail-oriented execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with nonprofits or small organizations preferred.
  • Familiarity with fraternal organizations, Greek housing, or 501(c)(7) entities preferred.
  • Working knowledge of captive insurance programs, including captive accounting, reserves, regulatory reporting, and related risk-financing structures strongly preferred.
