Finance Lead

The Finance Lead role at TruDiagnostic is a CFO-track position responsible for core finance execution and decision support. This is a hybrid role based in Lexington, KY, with direct reporting to the CEO and a growth path toward full CFO scope.

Role Overview

The Finance Lead owns finance execution and reporting, working directly with the leadership team and the Board. The position drives forecasting, budgeting, cash management, monthly close, and the development of clear unit economics across five business lines. The role also emphasizes building and validating the model personally, including the ability to explain and defend assumptions in detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Build the model personally and defend it

Requirements

• Diagnostics or health tech finance experience; clinical diagnostics experience preferred, including knowledge of lab economics, reimbursement, and an R&D-heavy P&L from prior work
• Experience owning finance at real scale as the #1 or a clear #2 (VP, SVP, EVP of Finance, or Chief Accounting Officer); prior CFO experience is welcome but not required
• Technical accounting fluency alongside hands-on FP&A, including the ability to close the books and build the forecast
• Ability to own the model, defend assumptions line by line, and rebuild when circumstances change
• Track record of building and leveling a finance team, not only operating one that was inherited
• Comfort presenting and holding a discussion with a CEO and Board
• Genuine interest in the CFO seat, with motivation aligned to a prove-it-then-take-it structure rather than requiring the title immediately

Preferred Qualifications

• Institutional financing or diligence experience, including building models, running data rooms, and understanding what outside capital teams require
• Produced financial statements that held up with external auditors
• Experience scaling a finance function ahead of company needs rather than behind it
• Comfort with complex corporate structures, including multi-entity accounting, layered cap tables, and equity administration
• M&A or corporate development experience
• Broader life sciences depth (biotech, pharma, medtech)
• Genuine excitement about the underlying science

Growth Path

• Phase 1: forecasting, close, controls, and team-building to earn full CFO scope in Phase 2
• Phase 2: capital strategy, investor relationships, and corporate development
• Advancement is evaluated on demonstrated readiness, not tenure

Work Location

Hybrid role for candidates based within or near Lexington, KY and/or willing to relocate. Work location: hybrid remote in Lexington, KY 40503.

Compensation

USD 150,000 - 200,000 per year.
