This role provides financial analysis support to strengthen financial positioning and future growth for an assigned area or region, including leadership in planning, reporting, and key performance indicators. The position supports enterprise financial activities while partnering across Finance Operations, clinical leaders, and cross-functional teams.

Role Summary

This position offers analytical support for the financial positioning and future growth of an assigned area or region. The role leads the development, analysis, and preparation of financial plans, reporting, and key performance indicators to align with overall system and entity strategic goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the monthly close process, quarterly rolling forecasts, budgeting, and forecasting, ensuring financial reporting is accurate and delivered on time.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and provide insights that support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and submit reports to corporate partners.
  • Collaborate with Finance Operations, clinical leaders, and cross-functional teams to review financial performance, identify trends, and support process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in department meetings and lead or contribute to special projects based on business needs.
  • Gather and challenge assumptions from multi-disciplinary teams, develop financial proformas, and assist with the preparation and presentation of business plans.
  • Lead key financial processes within an assigned area or region (including operating budgets, forecasting, program reporting and analysis, charge management, cost accounting, decision support, and contracting and reimbursement analysis) by coordinating resources, communication, and process teams.
  • Support regulatory compliance within assigned business unit(s) by providing assistance, coordination, and education as needed for compliance within contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify operating improvements and efficiencies by reviewing management reports and performing financial analysis to surface important trends and variances.
  • Implement and guide process changes based on data and provide strategic financial guidance using high-level analysis across multiple data elements.
  • Coordinate financial systems implementation and support for software products to enhance current and future functionality; develop and present ongoing financial indicators and education programs aligned to assigned business unit needs.
  • Prepare accurate and timely management and regulatory reports by pulling data from multiple sources, using consistent reporting formats, and supporting meaningful performance measure development.
  • Provide financial analysis support for multiple Banner facilities, with regional accountability for assignments at different Banner locations.
  • Handle complex problems by performing in-depth evaluation of relevant factors, working with minimal supervision, and prioritizing multiple projects using sophisticated software programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency typically achieved with 7+ years of financial management experience.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Excellent human relations skills; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with staff at all levels and outside professionals.
  • Proficiency in sophisticated software programs, with proven advanced analytical and modeling skills.
  • Operational skills and knowledge in healthcare, with strong leadership and confidence.
  • Ability to read and understand technical pronouncements, identify compliance issues, and make independent decisions.
  • Interacts with Regulatory Agencies, Information Services, Benefits, Finance, and Human Resources to support timely, accurate, and efficient reporting of data and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA).
  • Experience in healthcare financial management.
  • Additional related education and/or experience.
