Job Description
Solar Industries, Inc. and The Window Depot are seeking a Financial Controller to steer the company’s financial operations from their Tucson, AZ campus. The role collaborates closely with the CFO on long-range planning, ensures timely and accurate financial reporting, audits, and compliance, and leads the accounting function while driving system and process improvements to support intercompany activity.
Overview
The Financial Controller oversees day-to-day financial activities and partners with executive leadership to shape financial strategy. Core duties include managing A/P, A/R, and G/L, supervising month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting, with a focus on strengthening internal controls and regulatory compliance. The position also drives enhancements to financial systems and processes and coordinates cross-functional collaboration across departments.
Compensation
USD 110,000 - 140,000 per year.
Location
Tucson, AZ onsite.
Schedule
Day shift, Monday through Friday, on-site at the Tucson location.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the company’s financial operations
- Collaborating with the CFO on long-term financial planning
- Ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, audits, and compliance
- Managing accounting functions (A/P, A/R, G/L)
- Month-end close
- Reconciliations

- Supporting intercompany transactions
- Ensuring regulatory filings
- Leadership duties include staff development, performance reviews, and hiring
- System familiarization (Epicor, Spruce, AS400)
- Sales tax audits
- Credit card program management
- Implementing financial close procedures
- Preparing and overseeing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP/IFRS
- Managing the general ledger, reconciliations, and closing processes
- Monitoring cash flow and working capital
- Reviewing and evaluating inventory levels based on current and expected activity
- Ensuring Sales Tax filings are filed properly
- Managing day-to-day operations ensuring all basic accounting functions are performed properly
- Analyzing financial report pre-close and post-close to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes
- Maintain, administer and oversee Company credit card program
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and tax requirements
- Coordinate and manage external audits
- Maintain financial policies and procedures
- Supervise accounting staff and finance personnel
- Provide training, performance management, and development
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Partner with executive leadership on financial strategy
- Support mergers, acquisitions, or capital investments (if applicable)
- Collaborate with all departments, building cross-functional relationships
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting standards
- Experience with revenue recognition, accruals, consolidations, and month-end close
- Proficiency in financial statement preparation and regulatory compliance
- Audit coordination experience and understanding of tax fundamentals
- Experience designing and maintaining internal controls
- Knowledge of compliance requirements
- Process improvement mindset with focus on efficiency and accuracy
- Understanding of financial governance and risk management
- Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities

- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics, etc.), Epicor experience preferred

- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Qualifications
Minimum five years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
