Job Description
The Financial Controller leads accounting and financial operations for Great Lakes Forest Products, Inc. in Elkhart County, IN, onsite, directing month-end close, financial statements, cost studies, and margin analysis. This full-time role offers compensation around USD 125,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Direct the month-end close cycle to ensure precise, timely, and complete financial records.
- Supervise the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Conduct cost analyses and profitability assessments to inform operational decisions and pricing strategies.
- Execute detailed margin analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Coordinate import activities from a financial perspective, including cost tracking, cost allocation, and compliance support.
- Oversee general accounting functions such as the general ledger, reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Ensure accurate inventory accounting and cost of goods sold reporting.
- Develop and sustain financial reporting processes and key performance indicators for leadership.
- Identify inefficiencies and drive process improvement initiatives across accounting and finance functions.
- Mentor and develop the accounting staff to foster a high-performing team environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- Five to ten years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and cost accounting principles.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-driven environments is highly preferred.
- ERP system experience is required.
- Advanced Excel proficiency and strong analytical capabilities.
- Proven ability to lead teams, meet deadlines, and deliver results.
- Strong problem-solving orientation with meticulous attention to detail.
