Financial Controller

This onsite Financial Controller role in Billings, MT provides the opportunity to oversee accounting operations, ensure accurate reporting and strong internal controls, and deliver financial insight to leadership to support growth. Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
• Monitor job costing and work-in-progress reporting.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
• Coordinate with outside CPAs for year-end reviews and tax preparation.
• Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to management.
• Manage banking relationships and assist with financing activities as needed.
• Support company leadership with financial planning and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred but not required).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting role.
• Experience using Sage 100 Contractor is required.
• Construction or electrical contracting industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of job costing, construction accounting, and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of payroll, sales tax, and construction-related accounting practices.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communication and leadership skills.
