Financial Controller
Job Description
Ascend Fractional Finance, LLC offers a senior fractional accounting leadership role with a hybrid setup based in Burlington, VT. You will support a portfolio of two to five clients, lead recurring close cycles, and help strengthen accounting functions through process improvements, internal controls, and staff coaching. The role includes a $135,000 base salary plus annual profit sharing, along with 15 days PTO and 7 paid holidays, and a flexible hybrid schedule.
What you will do
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for multiple clients at the same time
- Prepare financial statements and management reports that support real decision-making
- Build, document, and improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Apply technical accounting skills across varied environments, including manufacturing cost accounting and activity-based costing
- Train and coach client staff to strengthen their accounting capabilities
- Coordinate with external auditors and the Ascend team to support accuracy and efficiency
- Contribute to internal methodology and tool development as the firm grows
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Active CPA license
- 5 to 7+ years in a complex accounting environment, with demonstrated upward progression
- Direct experience as a Senior Accountant or Controller
- Strong GAAP knowledge and managerial accounting fundamentals
- Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to ramp quickly on various ERP platforms
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple clients or entities simultaneously
Hybrid work environment
This is a hybrid role. Approximately 75% of your work is remote from your home office, and the remaining 25% includes on-site visits to client locations, typically within 30 to 60 minutes of Burlington. Clients range from office environments to light manufacturing and warehouse settings, and standard business hours apply.
