Financial Controller – Manufacturing

This on-site role directs the full accounting and financial operations for Nyle Water Heating Systems in Bangor, Maine, supporting operational decision-making within an inventory-intensive manufacturing environment powered by ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close and financial reporting process to deliver timely, accurate statements and management reports, including the P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Oversee accounting operations such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger activity, bank and credit card reconciliations, payroll and benefits, ensuring clean subledgers and proper approval controls.
• Maintain precise manufacturing cost and inventory accounting, covering WIP, finished goods, inventory valuation, COGS, scrap, variances, cycle counts, and cutoff reporting within Global Shop Solutions.
• Monitor cash flow, AR/AP aging, inventory movements, margin trends, and working capital risks; communicate financial issues and recommendations proactively.
• Ensure compliance and robust internal controls, including local, state, and federal financial/tax requirements, separation of duties, audit-ready documentation, and sound approval workflows.
• Document and enhance financial processes to strengthen ERP data integrity, reduce manual errors, and support scalable accounting practices as the company grows.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA or CMA is a strong plus.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing, distribution, or public accounting serving manufacturing clients.
• Proven ability to own the month-end close and produce accurate financial statements.
• Solid understanding of inventory accounting, COGS, WIP, standard costing or job costing, and ERP-driven transaction flow.
• Experience with ERP or MRP systems is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel with comfort handling accounting data, reconciliations, and financial reports.
• Working knowledge of payroll and benefits administration, with familiarity with UKG considered a plus.
• High integrity, sound judgement, confidentiality, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate across departments, and take ownership of outcomes.
• Practical, hands-on mindset with the ability to identify issues before they become larger problems.
