Manager - Wealth Management (Financial Institutions Practice)

The Manager position within BCG Vantage on the Topic Activation path supports the Financial Institutions Practice Area by providing U.S. wealth management expertise to asset and wealth management clients. The role blends advisory work grounded in analysis with knowledge development, commercialization support, and potential line management of junior colleagues.

Role Overview

As Manager – BCG Vantage on the Topic Activation path, you will partner with a global team to deliver U.S. wealth management industry insights to regional and global Asset & Wealth Management clients. You will contribute to expert advisory development supported by comprehensive analyses and serve as a thought partner and content expert for case teams and topic or sector leaders.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with a growing global team to provide U.S. wealth management industry expertise and insights to Asset & Wealth Management clients.
• Partner with case and proposal teams to develop and deliver expert advisory supported by comprehensive analyses.
• Act as a thought partner and content expert to help structure and solve complex business issues.
• Occasionally travel to serve clients onsite during staffing assignments.
• Drive development of intellectual property and knowledge assets that support the wealth management business.
• Contribute to commercialization efforts for the Asset & Wealth Management sector within the Financial Institutions Practice Area.
• Work with business leaders to support proposals and go-to-market efforts.
• Line manage junior colleagues, including goal setting, ongoing feedback, and support for career development.
• Develop and maintain knowledge assets (for example, tools and topic materials) based on different client contexts.
• Train, coach, and mentor junior team members.

Client and Topic Activation Focus

• Client focus (embedded expertise): Integrate into client-facing teams to deliver direct client impact using expertise, know-how, and proprietary tools and assets.
• Topic activation (sector expertise with proprietary tool and data solutions): Combine domain insights with know-how and proprietary assets to address targeted challenges, co-create insights on industry trends and functional topics, and codify IP through proprietary data, tools, and team efforts.
• Research (practice topic and sector-aligned research and insights): Deliver actionable research and insights tailored to client project needs using qualitative and quantitative data; synthesize results from commercial data, public and open-source materials, company and industry research, and macro-economic, commodities, and trade data.

Compensation and Location (US Locations)

This role is located in New York, NY (onsite). The compensation transparency approach for U.S. locations describes total compensation as including base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market-leading benefits package.

• Base salary range (New York): USD 136,600 - 142,500 per year
• Bonus: up to 16% of base salary
• Retirement contribution: starts at 5% and moves to 10% after 2 years

Required Qualifications

• Recognized as a U.S. wealth management subject matter expert and thought partner, with strong problem-solving through relevant analytical approaches, including leveraging large and complex data sets and tools such as Alteryx.
• Ability to establish credibility by taking positions and drawing conclusions across a range of challenges.
• Skilled communication with senior stakeholders, translating evidence-based insights into clear narratives.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of projects with awareness of business priorities and commercial impact.
• Comfort in an ever-changing and complex environment, including ambiguity and fast-paced work.
• 5+ years as a management consultant with focus on the U.S. wealth management industry required.
• Bachelor’s Degree with strong academic achievements required.
• Strong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills, and conceptual framing ability.
• Exceptional PowerPoint and Excel skills.
• Aptitude for leveraging and rapidly developing proficiency with AI-powered tools.
• Fluency in English.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a global collaborative team environment with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Candidates who served as in-house strategy consultant embedded within a wealth management firm preferred.
• In lieu of consulting experience, 6+ years of experience at wealth management firms required.
• Direct exposure to corporate or business strategy viewed as a differentiator.
• Familiarity with asset or investment management beneficial.
• Advanced degree preferred.
