Job Description

Marriott International, Inc. is seeking a Senior Assistant Director of Finance and Accounting to support property-wide financial strategy and execution. In this onsite role in Koloa, HI, you will partner with leadership to shape business planning, strengthen controls, and provide analytical guidance that supports desirable financial outcomes for the property and brand.

You will help develop and implement strategies aligned with the property and brand, while translating financial concepts into clear direction for teams and stakeholders. The position includes budgeting, forecasting, audit oversight, tax monitoring, and ongoing financial analysis to keep performance on track and reporting accurate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops ways to improve profit, including estimating cost and benefit and exploring new business opportunities.
  • Analyzes information to forecast sales against expenses and creates annual budget plans.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and monitors actual sales versus projected sales.
  • Analyzes differences between actual budget wages and forecasted wages to support more efficient budget planning.
  • Breaks down information or data to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Supports creative and practical development, execution, and implementation of new business plans.
  • Assists with creation of the annual operating budget for the property.
  • Provides analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities for property managers.
  • Assists in implementing a system of appropriate controls to manage business risks.
  • Analyzes financial data and market trends, and supports development and implementation of a comprehensive annual business plan aligned with company and brand strategic direction.
  • Monitors operating department actual and projected sales and produces accurate forecasts so operations can respond to business changes.
  • Uses interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others, advocating sound financial and business decision making with honesty and integrity.
  • Communicates strategic goals, focus, and owner priorities to subordinates in a clear and precise manner.
  • Oversees internal, external, and regulatory audit processes and reviews audit issues for accuracy.
  • Provides leadership by assigning team members and other department managers clear accountability supported by appropriate authority.
  • Conducts annual performance appraisals with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures and participates in hiring activities as appropriate.
  • Attends meetings and communicates with owners to understand priorities and strategic focus, and ensures needs of key stakeholders are met (owners, corporate, guests, etc.).
  • Assists in documenting Profits and Losses accurately and ensures the P&L is accurate, including proper matching of costs to revenue and correct recording of costs.
  • Monitors applicable taxes to ensure taxes are current, collected and/or accrued.
  • Submits reports in a timely manner to meet delivery deadlines and generates accurate, timely reports and presentations.
  • Reconciles the balance sheet to ensure account balances are supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with SOPs.
  • Ensures compliance with management contract and reporting requirements, as well as Standard and local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Supports team execution through cross-training, fair and consistent policy administration, orientation and new hire training, and development planning based on individual strengths and career aspirations.
  • Facilitates critique meetings to review information with the management team and develops and supports achievement of performance goals, budget goals, and team goals.
  • Improves profit growth in operating departments and supports property working capital and cash flow in accordance with brand SOPs and owner requirements.

Requirements

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting or related major
  • 1 years of experience in finance and accounting or a related professional area
  • Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting or related major
  • No work experience required

Job Summary

  • Assists in championing, development, and implementation of property-wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the brand’s target customer and property employees.
  • Provides financial expertise to support successful implementation of brand service strategy and brand initiatives while maximizing return on investment.
  • Supports creation and execution of a business plan aligned with property and brand business strategy, focusing on financial and accounting activities and delivery of desirable financial results.

Location: Koloa, HI, United States (onsite)
Compensation: USD 107,000 - 138,000 per year
