Job Description
The Senior Financial Analyst supports the Resource Management Program within the New Mexico Environment Department, handling budgeting, journal entries and general ledger tasks, procurement processing, voucher handling, and coordinating financial activities to support environmental programs.
Role Overview
The position entails overseeing budget development and management for the Resource Management Program, performing journal entries and general ledger reconciliations, processing procurement actions, and coordinating financial activities to support environmental initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and assists with the development and management of budgets for the Resource Management Program
- Prepares journal entries and supports general ledger review and reconciliation activities
- Creates internal purchase requisition forms and enters purchase orders in SHARE
- Assists with voucher processing and other financial transactions
- Maintains budget projection workbooks to track expenditures, budget activity, and personnel actions
- Collaborates with the Program Financial Manager to facilitate P-code meetings and budget planning efforts
- Coordinates with program offices to identify, document, and address financial and operational needs
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting, economics, finance, or business administration and three (3) years of experience in accounting, finance, economics, and/or statistical analysis. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
- NMED participates in E-Verify and will verify employment eligibility upon hire.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required.
