Sr Manager Finance
Job Description
The Senior Manager, Development Accounting role within MVW Headquarters provides end-to-end ownership of financial management, accounting, and reporting for a range of development and refurbishment portfolios. The position focuses on execution quality, forecast reliability, and maintaining effective internal controls across assigned projects.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage accurate and timely project budgeting and forecasting for assigned portfolios.
- Capture and monitor commitments on a timely basis, including financial due diligence review of contracts and change orders, with approvals handled in accordance with company policy.
- Review and supervise contractor and consultant payment applications and other project expenditures.
- Maintain a strong system of control within Development Accounting, including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Confirm compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Reconcile Development balance sheet accounts in Blackline on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile PeopleSoft General Ledger Job Cost against PMWeb cost worksheet (or Excel) forecasts maintained by the A&C project management team.
- Ensure periodic audits of major contracts are conducted as needed.
- Ensure financial representation at major bid openings.
- Coordinate with the A&C project manager regarding timing of Refurbishment Service Agreement recognition in the P&L for Budget, Forecast, and Actuals.
- Develop refurbishment forecast and budget inputs to support project management billing.
- Provide Development capex updates and Development product cost reporting for the Long Range Plan/Budget.
- Lead the accounting team in the creation and use of improved reporting tools, processes, and procedures.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities to help monitor and lower project product cost.
- Perform financial analysis of general contractors bidding on major projects, including identification of potential financial risk to the project.
- Attend A&C Project Status Reporting meetings covering project issues and exposure items, construction schedule, commitments, costs to date, and estimated final cost versus budget and forecast.
- Supervise and train the Development Accounting Manager, including timely coaching and performance feedback.
- Submit project ID requests to HCL as needed.
- Support general accounting activities as required, including requests of journal entries and Bahamas VAT review.
- Assist with general audit questions and documentation.
- Conduct financial analysis to support managerial decision-making and special projects as requested.

Education
- BS or BA Degree in Accounting or Finance (or related major)
- CPA preferred
Required Experience and Knowledge
- 7+ years related work experience in accounting and finance
- 3+ years of management experience
- Knowledge of real estate development or construction industry
- Basic understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act Section 404
- Public accounting experience is a plus
