Benefits and Finance Administration Support
Job Description
The Accounting and Benefits Support Specialist provides organized, timely support across the organization’s accounting, client financial activities, benefits administration, and day-to-day operations. This hybrid role is based in Denver, CO and supports accounts payable, payroll-related tasks, Personal Needs Funds documentation, representative payee workflows, and benefits eligibility monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate Personal Needs Funds documentation, including receipt collection, matching, follow-up, and audit-ready recordkeeping.
- Support Social Security Administration representative payee activities and ensure required documentation is completed and maintained.
- Monitor Medicaid, Social Security, SSI, and other benefit eligibility requirements, including renewals, applications, relevant documentation, and follow-up actions to help prevent benefit interruptions.
- Review information for discrepancies, missing items, unusual activity, and approaching deadlines, then communicate or escalate concerns as appropriate.
- Process, organize, maintain, and route financial, benefits, and administrative records.
- Provide general administrative support, including handling phone and visitor needs, scheduling, shared calendars, supplies, work orders, reservations, and other operational tasks.
- Prepare assigned reports and maintain or document procedures and records as directed.
- Coordinate effectively with Finance, program staff and leadership, vendors, providers, guardians, benefits contacts, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow organizational policies, procedures, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Some college coursework in accounting, business, finance, or a related field.
- Experience with accounts payable, billing, payroll support, accounting, and financial records.
- Experience with Medicaid, public benefits, Social Security/SSI, representative payee services, or client financial accounts.
- Understanding of GAAP.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, including invoice entry, payment processing, check preparation, EFT/ACH posting, and maintenance of supporting documentation.
- Knowledge of bi-weekly payroll, banking activities, general accounting functions, reporting, and financial recordkeeping.
- Familiarity with accounting software; NetSuite preferred.
- Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Experience with Medicaid, benefits administration, or public benefits is preferred.
- Ability to identify problems, use sound judgment, and appropriately escalate concerns.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and collaborate across departments.
- Proficiency with 10-key data entry.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining communication and follow-through.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with a normal range of physical strength, mobility, hearing, and vision.
- Ability to work effectively with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license required.
- Must complete required organizational training and meet applicable background and regulatory requirements.

Work Schedule
- 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
- In office at first, with potential to work remote on occasions
Compensation
- $25.00 to $28.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly based on experience and education

Education and Experience
- Some college coursework in accounting, business, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
